Q: I will be buying a cell phone soon. What features are available these days?

A: Appearances aside, different models and brands of cell phones offer an amazing number of features: web access, text messaging, speakerphone, color screens, high resolution camera, wireless technology to use with other devices, video recorder, mp3 player, pda functionality, keyboard, light in weight, digital camera, global roaming possibilities, and push to talk buttons. This represents a confusing array of possibilities and by the time you get to the store, there may be even more on offer. Try not to make any hasty decisions and consider what features you might actually like and use. Phone plans are also complicated. Compare at least a few and do read the fine print. Linda Byard
