Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous
Earth Tip.
Diatomaceous
Earth (food grade only!) is good for many things. For pest (bug)
control, just sprinkle around. It sticks to the bugs, cuts them open,
and dries them out. It may take several weeks to kill them all though.
You can powder it directly on the ant hill.
You can also feed it to your animals to rid them of most worms. I give
1 tbs to my 35 lbs dog a day in his food to help prevent worms. You can
also rub it in their hair to help get rid of fleas. I use it around my
baseboards to help keep spiders out. I also put it on my carpets before
vacuuming. It is a very fine powdery type substance so it can be
uncomfortable to breathe, so wearing a mask is recommended.
It
does mix with water, although it does not dissolve. the water mix turns
into paint that will white wash anything. this is good for 'painting'
the outside of the house near the ground, and on trees to prevent ants
from climbing up them.
It took
about 3 weeks, but it did work and they haven't come back since. Plus,
I have a 2 yo, and she is perfectly fine with this. It is safe for her
although I do not spray it when she is around. I have also even put it
in my shoes to absorb moisture. -- Natisha
